Now that Dada flies for work travel instead of driving Ishish has become even more interested in airplanes. Almost anytime we see one he asks if it's "Dada airplane".
Dada left town two days ago. Within a couple hours of his departure Ishish decided that we should play the "waiting room" game. Here's how it works. He designates a part of the house (kitchen) the airport and another part (living room) the waiting room in the airport. Then we sit on the couch (my idea because I want to be comfortable if this game were to get long!) and watch for Dada to come. While we wait Ishish hands out imaginary snacks for us to eat. After a while I, thoroughly bored with this game, point out that Dada's coming! We pretend that he waves to us, and then we go over to give him a big hug. Can you guess what our usual routine is for getting Dada from the airport? I'll also add that Ishish has played this game a couple times since then.
Before bed last night our conversation went like this:
me: Nighty night Ishish. I'll get you up in the morning.
(Usually I mention what we're doing in the morning, but in this case I wasn't sure.)
Ishish: Go school?
me: No, it's summer break, remember? There's no more school.
Ishish: Go church?
me: No, it's not a church day either.
Ishish: Pick up Daddy day?
me: No, he won't be home yet.
After his nap today I found Ishish sitting on his pillow in bed. He said "I going 'sconsin. I not see you anymore". Really? Then he added "I on airplane". Ohhh, ok. He had put all his friends in a bin and was holding it on his lap. When he told me he'd arrived, he was careful to take them all off the plane with him. I wish I'd been able to take a picture! Unfortunately Ishish told me he's afraid of the camera, and bringing one out only causes him to be upset and run away.

Conversations
Yesterday Ishish was eating breakfast while I made his lunch. Out of the blue he said "I no like Mama". He's never said anything like that before so I was caught off guard! My response: "You don't like me? Hmm. [sigh] Oh well".
Ishish: I want to go Ms. Lucy's car to gym. [We often park near her car at preschool.]
me: You want to go to gym class in Ms. Lucy's car?
Ishish: Yeah.
me [baffled... where did that come from?]: Well, that explains why I didn't understand you!
---------------
Before bed last night Ishish was having meltdown after meltdown. He wouldn't clean up his toy cars so they were left in the office (an extremely upsetting thing to him). I wondered if he'd care about that today. For the last week he's always played with them right away in the morning before I'd get him out of his room. Over the monitor this morning I heard him say "Where'd purple truck go? It's in office". He repeated that a couple times and then decided to look at a book instead.---------------
I had to get something out of the bathroom adjacent to his bedroom before I got him up this morning. He must have noticed I turned the light on because when I walked away he said "Where'd Mama go? Mama hiding". Then I returned to put the stuff away, and he said "Mama took socks off too". He must have been looking under the door! When I went in his room I found that indeed he had taken his socks off, which is unusual.---------------
Ishish was saying something during his snack this afternoon. I couldn't understand and kept trying to guess. Finally I thought I heard him say:Ishish: I want to go Ms. Lucy's car to gym. [We often park near her car at preschool.]

Mimicking
During Ishish's naptime yesterday I heard the water turn on in his sink. Alarmed, I went right into his room. I knew I had put the stool up high! I found him standing on the seat of his "big car" so that he could reach the water. He was filling up his AquaDoodle pens with water so that he could color on the mats. So... he wasn't actually trying to make a mess.
Later that night I was using them to color with him. He had me draw a bunny and some other things. I suggested he make his own picture, and he drew what looked like a blob... not too surprising. He told me he made "Kiks barf"! Umm... I guess our cats throw up a lot? After a minute he said "I need paper towel". I wasn't sure why he wanted one but went a brought a sheet back. He said "clean up barf" and proceeded to wipe the mat. I've heard that kids like to mimic what you do. I realized that there are some things we do way too often!

Easter
I was a little worried that with all the Easter egg hunts Ishish had over the past week the actual day of Easter wouldn't be very special. Fortunately he enjoyed himself a lot!
I found a spot for his basket that I thought would be slightly hidden but not too hard for him to find by himself.

Of course, Ishish took this day to sleep in and was snoring away when I went in to wake him up.

He was excited about the concept of finding his basket but when we got into the kitchen he froze... maybe he was confused? So Dada and I started to give him some hints "It's in the kitchen... maybe look at the cabinets... do any of them look different?" After what seemed like a long time he spotted it and rushed over. The big chocolate bunny caught his attention!

As usual, he played during his naptime. Right before I was going to get him up he fell asleep. When Dada went in a long time later to wake him up he found Ishish sleeping on the floor! Ishish said he had made his bed (lately he throws all the covers on the floor), but I guess there was no room left for him!

After supper we dyed Easter eggs. Ishish helped decide whose names should be on them and which color everyone got. By the end he'd even figured out how to lift the eggs with the dipper instead of using his fingers!
